Rocks, rocks, and more rocks

Acres and acres of rocks surround Lassen Peak in the section of the park called Chaos Crags. These rocks came down the mountain in an avalanche on a cushion of compressed air, traveling for more than two miles and climbing some four hundred feet up the slope on the far side of the valley. They blocked streams, making beautiful lakes. Amazing!
