Work has been suspended at the Buffalo Jump dig site due to lack of funding and the retirement of the lead professor supervising the dig. A second, larger pit had been excavated, but was re-buried to protect it until funds could be found to continue the work. Interestingly, the site was discovered during the construction of Interstate 90, which was originally planned to run right over the site. When bones were unearthed, the construction was halted and the Interstate was re-routed. (It was only re-routed a few hundred feet!)
