Streams from active glaciers are filled with gray rock powder that will quickly clog a water filter. Streams from inactive glaciers are crystal clear. Here, the water is emerald in color and so clear as to be almost invisible. As part of tradition, I try to skip a stone in every body of water we encounter in our travels.
