Diana takes a quick shot as I look up at the high mountain slope alongside the trail. In some places, rock slides are a problem. Train track monitors had to check the bad sections every day for problems. The rail bed was put in place by using powerful water jets to loosen soil, rocks, and boulders from the hillside. This material was then used as the foundation for the rail bed.
